SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 4 Jul (EUROPE PRESS) –
A total of 650,622 taxpayers in the Canary Islands have been refunded 436 million Euros by the Tax Agency at the conclusion of the 2023 Income Tax (IRPF) declaration campaign. As of yesterday, 80.7% of the requested refunds by number and 67.8% by amount have already been processed.
The increase in refunds processed (+5.1% in number and -4.5% in amount) is a result of a rise in refund requests from taxpayers. By the end of the campaign, 1,085,495 tax returns had been filed, showing a 4.4% increase from last year, and out of these, 74.2% (805,948) resulted in refunds.
Among the provinces, the largest sum of refunds was returned in Las Palmas, totaling 233.4 million Euros, a growth of 4.22%, followed by Santa Cruz de Tenerife, with 202.5 million Euros, a decrease of 13%.
In terms of recipients, Las Palmas province also tops the list with the highest number of taxpayers receiving refunds, with 341,708 individuals, marking a 6.15% increase. Santa Cruz de Tenerife province follows with 308,914 recipients, reflecting a 3.99% rise.
