The Tenerife Island Council is driving the restoration of the buildings at Hogar Gomero, located in the Scientific and Technological Hub of La Laguna which houses IACTec and Nanotec in Las Mantecas, to allocate it to projects linked to innovation and research.
The Minister of Innovation, Research, and Development, Juan José Martínez, explained that the main house and the annex of Hogar Gomero are in poor condition, and a project has been initiated for their structural consolidation and the restoration of both buildings for uses compatible with the activities promoted by the Scientific and Technological Park of Tenerife.
Martínez added that the first step they have taken is to tender the contract to update the renovation project of the Annex House of Hogar Gomero. “The deadline for updating is three months, and once we have the documentation, we can proceed with the tender for the works. At the same time, we are working at the Scientific and Technological Park of Tenerife on seeking funding for the renovation of both buildings and putting them into service,” he explained.
In this way, the renovation project of the annex house dating back to 2017 will be updated, taking into account the variations introduced by the new technical regulations affecting the building and facilities. Similarly, the need to carry out new construction units will be analyzed to mitigate the effects on the property to be renovated caused by weather phenomena or vandal actions that were not included in the original project.
