On this Wednesday, the strike committee of the Tenerife Metropolitan unanimously agreed to escalate the strike actions starting in September, as reported by the Workers’ Commissions since February 9th.
The union announced that new strike schedules impacting peak hours will be implemented, along with a revised protest timetable for the autumn period.
The workers have chosen to intensify their actions due to the management of Metropolitano de Tenerife exploiting the goodwill and responsibility of workers. They have reduced strike durations to minimize disruption to this vital public service.
The management’s actions, according to the union, have disregarded mediation, delayed crucial decisions, and reneged on previous agreements.
CCOO stated that schedules and agreed plans have been disregarded, staff provided with inaccurate information, attempts made to fuel inter-union conflicts, and legal representation constantly undermined.
The strike committee confirmed a lack of initiative from Eulalia García, the Transport Councillor of Cabildo de Tenerife, in resolving issues affecting Metropolitano de Tenerife employees.
In an effort to prevent escalating conflicts in September, the strike committee has decided to limit meetings to the technical committee during July and August to facilitate decision-making.
However, come September, full committee meetings will resume with prior preparations involving all twelve members.
