The City Council’s Governing Board gave the green light yesterday to the contract assignment for setting up a rainwater interceptor collector on Punta de Anaga Street, situated in the Los Alisios neighbourhood (Southwest district), with a total cost of 1,865,267 euros.
Mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, highlighted that “this initiative will ensure the safety of residents from potential rainwater floods in the Los Alisios and Santa María del Mar areas, addressing a longstanding concern of the local community.”
“I want to emphasise the crucial contribution from the Tenerife Island Council, providing essential funding to turn this substantial project into reality, emphasising how pivotal intergovernmental collaboration is for municipalities,” added the mayor.
The Infrastructure and Southwest district Councillor, Javier Rivero, stressed that “this project marks the completion of the rainwater runoff strategy that commenced in 2015 and has been ongoing across various areas of the Southwest district, thereby establishing a protective shield for residents.” The upcoming work will play a vital role in safeguarding against flooding in the Los Alisios area, including parts of Santa María del Mar.
