The Parliament of the Canary Islands has successfully reached out to six individuals out of the 56 requested by the parliamentary factions to testify before the commission tasked with investigating medical supply issues during the pandemic. Consequently, the proceedings are set to commence definitively next Monday.
As per information provided by the Chamber, the hearings will kick off at 10:00 am with Óscar Trujillo, CEO of One Airways, the firm responsible for transporting medical supplies to the archipelago. Subsequent sessions are scheduled for 12:00 pm and 1:30 pm, featuring the rector of Ulpgc, Lluis Serra, and Health Economics expert, Beatriz González, both of whom were part of the health management committee.
The commission was initially supposed to start last Monday but the Parliament’s efforts to locate Koldo García, former advisor to the Ministry of Transport, and Juan Manuel Pérez, the whistleblower in the ‘mask case’, proved futile despite engaging police services.
The upcoming session scheduled for July 15 will include Clara Isabel Cabrera (10:00 am), the sole administrator of Titerro International SL, a wholesale trade company; Kevin Sánchez (12:00 pm), the sole administrator of Yimbo 7 Inversiones, implicated in fund transfers related to the ‘mask case’; and Carlos Sánchez Muñoz (1:30 pm), the CEO of ACJ, SAU, a key healthcare supplier for the Government of the Canary Islands.
The commission, with a maximum duration of six months, anticipates the presence of Minister for Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, Ángel Víctor Torres; former Minister of Transport, José Luis Ábalos; the owner of RR7 United, the company at the centre of the ‘mask case’ and the subsequent investigation of a four million euro fraud, Íñigo Rotaexte; representative of Soluciones de Gestión y Apoyo de Empresas SL linked to the ‘Koldo case’, along with various politicians and officials.
