SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 1st July (EUROPA PRESS) –

The performance ‘Deceit. The Demise of the Muses’, a creation of the National Dramatic Centre (INAEM), has clinched the honour for Finest Theatre Production in the 27th instalment of the Max Performing Arts Awards, the victors of which were disclosed this Monday during a grand event hosted, for the first time, at the Tenerife Auditorium and centred on the life and contributions of the esteemed Canarian poet and dramatist Ángel Guimerá.

‘Deceit’ achieved a double triumph by also securing the prize for top stage arrangement, a recognition bestowed upon Adriá Pinar, while the piece ‘Forever’ by the Basque group Kulunka, initially a contender on four fronts, ultimately bagged two accolades: Premier stage management and Supreme theatrical scripting.

Eduard Fernández snatched the award for leading male actor for ‘All the Love Songs’, dedicating the accolade to his mother, who battled Alzheimer’s disease, whereas Natalia Huarte scooped up the Max for leading actress for ‘Psycho 4.48’, accentuating the significance of this production on desolation for its ability to “illuminate the shadows”.

A total of 522 productions were submitted for consideration in the Max Awards, with 44 vying in the final stretch. Following the initial shortlisting process earmarked by five regional panels – two for Madrid, one for Catalonia, and two for each autonomous community – a committee comprising the five chairpersons of the regional panels, five notable figures from the Performing Arts sector, and a representative of the Organising Committee deliberated on the cream of the crop in the 20 categories contending in the XXVII Max Awards.
