The hunt for the absent young man in Tenerife comes to an end, yet inquiries are ongoing

The Guardia Civil has concluded the search for the British gentleman Jay Slater, who has been missing in Tenerife since June 17. Nevertheless, sources from the security force have stated that all leads related to the case are still being pursued.

The law enforcement agency has wrapped up the operation dedicated to locating Slater after an extensive but fruitless search effort that involved agents, helicopters, drones, and specialized K-9 units from the Cynological Service of the Guardia Civil stationed in Madrid.

A large-scale search operation was carried out by the Guardia Civil in the Masca region of Buenavista del Norte, Tenerife, with the participation of approximately thirty individuals. This endeavour was undertaken after seeking assistance from volunteer groups and private professionals familiar with challenging terrains. Masca is characterized by its rocky landscape, irregularities, and a network of ravines, trails, and pathways.

Jay Dean Slater, aged 19, went missing on the evening of June 17. The search operation was expanded to encompass other areas of Buenavista del Norte beyond the Masca ravine, where his last known location was pinpointed before his mobile phone battery died.

Slater had travelled to Tenerife with friends to attend a concert and, as per a companion, he was seen heading to the Masca area alongside two individuals.

On that day, his friend received a distress call from Slater, reporting that he was disoriented, parched, and his phone battery was on the verge of dying, registering just 1% charge.

His disappearance was promptly reported, triggering a search operation, and his family relocated to Tenerife to closely monitor the proceedings and contribute in any way possible.

Several British media outlets have mentioned a “potential sighting” of the lad in Santiago del Teide, circulating a blurry image captured by a webcam that shows the outline of a youthful figure strolling hours after his disappearance.
