SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 28th June (EUROPA PRESS) –
This Friday, the Civil Guard disclosed the plans for a large-scale search operation on Saturday, commencing at 9:00 a.m., to locate 19-year-old British tourist Jay Slater who went missing on June 17 in Buenavista del Norte.
Given the rugged and uneven terrain of the Masca area, filled with rocky surfaces, ravines, paths, and trails, the Civil Guard is seeking assistance from all volunteer associations of Civil Protection or Firefighters available to contribute to this meticulously planned search.
The search will kick off from Mirador de la Cruz de Hilda (Masca), following a systematic and well-coordinated search strategy until sundown.
Despite bolstering the GREIM team with a helicopter, drones, and a unit of specialised search dogs dispatched from Madrid, the search for Slater has yielded no results after 12 days. The Civil Guard maintains that all possible scenarios are being considered.
Slater, along with two friends, had travelled to Tenerife for a holiday and to attend a music festival in the southern part of the island. During the early hours of 16th June, he met two other men and accompanied them to a residence in the Teno Rural Park.
After his friends reported him missing, the last communication they had before his phone battery died was his message stating that he had missed the bus, was thirsty, and was attempting to walk back to his apartment in the southern region of the island.
