The Magallanes Square, known as the Red Square in El Médano, will be dyed with colour, music, and celebration on Friday, 28th June during the demonstration that advocates for the rights of LGTBIQ+ individuals. The rainbow colours will paint a space that combines celebration with advocacy and respect for sexual and gender diversity. Pride Day marks the end of a month where the agenda of events has focused on working towards real and effective equality in society.

The main event this year on the island will be in the municipality of Granadilla de Abona. It will start at 12.30 with an institutional declaration in González Mena Square in front of the Town Hall, led by Mayor Jennifer Miranda.

In the afternoon, it will be the turn of the people. At 17.30, the demonstration will begin, called for by LGTBIQ+ groups, starting from the Red Square to the central square. Banners, flags, and messages that highlight a fight for the rights of an entire community will fill the streets of El Médano.

Then comes the party. The central square will be filled with music and talent. The municipality will have a musical show with parades and animation by the comparsa and batucada of Los Guajeiros, as well as performances by Marcela Kaufman; the ballet of Ezequiel Dibeló; the drag comedian Judith and the artistic presentation of Anastasia Letal, a renowned drag queen from Tenerife known for her participation in galas and events.

Ángela Villalba, head of the Equality and Diversity department, invites the population to participate in the demonstration, driven by all the LGTBIQ+ groups in Tenerife, and in all the commemorative initiatives that promote the institutional commitment to eradicate any discrimination based on sexual orientation and identity.

The association LGBTI* Diversas informs on its website about the possibility of attending the demonstration from various municipalities on the island with a free bus service. La Laguna, La Orotava, Santa Cruz, and Arona, are the points that will have this transport available.
