The town of San Cristóbal de La Laguna is gearing up to host the ‘Nature Day’ event this Saturday, June 29, at Camino Largo and the nearby castle. A diverse range of natural and eco-friendly activities centred on sustainability will be available on that day.
During a press conference, Domingo Galván, the Environmental Councillor of La Laguna City Council, unveiled the extensive schedule of complimentary workshops for the public that have been organised for the event. The workshops will run from 11:00 to 19:00, covering topics such as nutritious cuisine and beverages, beauty products, fashion, leisure activities, and innovative recycling initiatives, showcasing ways to incorporate responsible consumption into daily life.
The event is a part of the World Environment Day celebrations, originally marked on June 5. Galván remarked that it offers a unique chance to consider the significance of preserving the natural environment and implementing small lifestyle changes that can have a substantial positive impact on the community.
“Every individual or collective effort adds to environmental conservation, and this event serves as a prime example. It will be powered by solar energy generated by Canarias Autosostenible,” Galván stated, urging everyone to join in and revel in this revelry, “sure to inspire the adoption of eco-friendly habits and actions towards a greener, more sustainable future for all.”
The event will feature the participation of various noteworthy organisations and businesses dedicated to sustainability, including the Environmental Volunteer Office of the Cabildo de Tenerife, the Canarias Recicla Foundation, Algodón Verde, La Recicladera, Costurilla, Mica Candles, Nova Opia, Oylarteka, Microespirulina, Aires del Apartadero, Garoe Natural, La Polilla, Las Jalapeñas, Eco Armonía, La Gangochera, Cervezas La Armada, and Komelocal.
Galván expressed that the objective is to showcase their products and efforts, underscoring the importance of endorsing establishments, artisans, and companies striving towards sustainability.
Additionally, a model aeroplane workshop will be conducted at Mesa Mota, from 10:30 to 13:30, organised by Mesonauta. This special workshop aims to provide an entertaining and educational experience for the entire family, encouraging enjoyment of the environment through sustainable recreational activities.
“The environment is our mutual abode, and it falls upon us to preserve and protect it for the forthcoming generations. This Saturday, La Laguna will set an example of communities banding together for its conservation,” emphasised the councillor.
