SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 28th June (EUROPA PRESS) –
Expressing his views on Friday, the vice president of the Government of the Canary Islands and leader of the Canarian PP, Manuel Domínguez, denounced Vox leaders for their “reckless” actions in proposing to erect “a barrier” on the islands, leaving them “isolated.” He also condemned their refusal to participate in the distribution of unaccompanied migrant minors, even hinting at breaking agreements with regional governments.
Speaking to the press, he expressed his apprehension towards certain Vox deputies in the Canarian parliament who seem to disown the islands’ integration into Spain, suggesting that the archipelago should be confined like “a fortress” and the surrounding sea seen as “a burial ground.”
Domínguez lamented the absence of coherent migration policies in Spain, emphasising the acute challenges faced by the Canary Islands in caring for migrant children, asserting that these youngsters deserve proper attention. He stressed the need for collective efforts to address these pressing issues.
“It is unthinkable that they would further alienate the Canary Islands, not just geographically but also politically, considering they are representatives of the islands and were elected by the people of the Canary Islands,” he remarked.
