SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 25th June (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Department of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sports of the Canary Islands Government, under the General Directorate of Infrastructure and Facilities, has compiled a report outlining the necessary investments in the near and medium term for the renovation, conditioning and enhancement of El Hierro’s educational centres, with an estimated cost of 7,472,302.52 euros.
The report, already submitted to the Island Council, provides a comprehensive overview of the essential requirements regarding educational infrastructure, excluding the establishment of new centres or the full refurbishment of existing ones.
As per the report, the largest investment would be in installing roofs in outdoor areas, amounting to 4,291,645.14 euros. This is followed by other miscellaneous needs costing 1,406,357.38 euros, such as the creation of shaded spaces at 640,000 euros, as stated by the Ministry.
The cost of asbestos removal is estimated at 410,000 euros, while repairing leaks and dampness would require 370,000 euros. Updating and enhancing electrical installations would incur a cost of 300,000 euros.
Additionally, naturalising spaces to alleviate high-temperature episodes would cost 160,000 euros. An investment of 37,500 euros is earmarked for sports facilities and equipment, and the installation of thermal, humidity, and CO2 sensors, to prepare the centres for climate change, would amount to 16,800 euros.
This report is part of the ongoing efforts by the department led by Poli Suárez to enhance the educational infrastructure across the archipelago.
