WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE CANARY ISLANDS | What to Expect this Sunday in the Canary Islands?

The eve of San Juan in Canary Islands, this Sunday, will be accompanied by occasional gusts that can exceed 70 kilometers per hour in the western extreme of Gran Canaria and to the south of Tenerife, on a day with cloudy skies in the north of the islands and west of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, and maximum temperatures slightly rising.

As forecasted by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), clouds will be present during the morning and in the late hours, but clear skies will be opening up for the rest of Sunday, with the trade winds intensifying, especially in exposed slopes of the aforementioned areas.

Regarding sea conditions, the wind will blow from the northeast with force 4 or 5, occasionally reaching 6 in wide maritime areas of the archipelago. There will be rough sea or strong rough sea in the western province and slight to rough sea in the eastern, as well as northerly swell of one to two meters in height.

GRAN CANARIA

In the north, mostly cloudy skies with clear skies opening up during the afternoon. A few clouds or clear in the rest. Minimum temperatures with few changes, maximum temperatures slightly rising, which may be moderate in high areas. Moderate north wind, with strong intervals on the southeast and west slopes, occasionally with very strong gusts. In the western extreme, there may occasionally be gusts exceeding 70 km/h. Moderate northeasterly winds in the summits, intensifying at night.

LANZAROTE

Mostly clear skies, except in the western slope at the beginning and end of the day with cloudy skies. Minimum temperatures with few changes, maximum temperatures slightly rising. Moderate north wind, occasionally strong in inland and southeast slope areas, with a possibility of locally very strong gusts.

FUERTEVENTURA

Mostly clear skies, except in the western slope at the beginning and end of the day with cloudy skies. Temperatures slightly rising. Moderate north wind, occasionally strong in inland areas and on the south slope of Jandía, with a possibility of locally very strong gusts.

TENERIFE

Mostly clear skies, except in the extreme northeast at the beginning and end of the day when cloudy skies will prevail. Minimum temperatures with few changes, maximum temperatures slightly rising, becoming moderate in high areas. Moderate north wind, with strong intervals in the northwest tip and east coast, with occasional very strong gusts. South of the metropolitan area, speeds may probably exceed 70 km/h, especially in the second half of the day. Light variable winds at Teide.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife 21 27

Mostly clear skies, except in the north at the beginning and end of the day when cloudy skies will prevail. Minimum temperatures with few changes, maximum temperatures slightly rising. Moderate northeasterly winds, with intervals of strong gusts.

Weather Forecast for the Canary Islands

The prevailing winds will be moderate from the northeast, with strong intervals on the eastern and western extremes, where the occasional very strong gust cannot be ruled out.

The northeast will be cloudy with some clear skies during the central hours. Partly cloudy or clear elsewhere. Minimum temperatures with little change, maximum temperatures slightly rising. Moderate northeast wind, with strong intervals on the southeast and northwest sides, where locally very strong gusts cannot be ruled out.

Santa Cruz de La Palma 18 27

Mainly clear or clear skies, except for morning intervals in the north. Minimum temperatures with slight changes, maximum temperatures slightly rising. Moderate northeast wind, with strong intervals on the eastern and western extremes, where the occasional very strong gust may occur. On mountain peaks, winds will be light to moderate.
