The five thousand tables of the wizard’s feast at St. Benito ‘levitate’

The wizard’s dance of St. Benito Abad 2024 was left without its over 500 tables early yesterday. The La Laguna City Council had announced on Thursday that tickets to use them could be purchased “from early morning” of this Friday, and by 9:00 a.m., the mueveticket.com website already showed a sold-out sign. This event will bring together thousands of pilgrims on July 12th between the surroundings of La Concepción church and Marqués de Celada street.

The Councillor for Festivities of the Council, Dailos Gonzalez, highlighted that “the great reception that this dance receives every year is clear evidence of the strong roots that exist among the people of La Laguna with this celebration, surpassing the milestones set by the previous edition and filling the streets of the city with colour and folklore.”

Likewise, the councillor from La Laguna regretted that they were not able to accommodate all the people who wanted to reserve one of the available tables, although he recalled that it is not an essential requirement to have one of these reservations to access the venue. “Only attendees will be required to come dressed in traditional clothing or a typical outfit to enjoy this special night for the municipality,” he asserted.

The Wizard’s Dance of St. Benito Abad 2024 will have this year as its motto ‘A dance, three environments,’ referring to one of the main novelties of this edition, which will be the three musical stages that will be offered that Friday in La Laguna. The main stage will be located under the tower of La Concepción, where from 9:30 p.m., the folk groups Ixemad, Chisaje, Hespérides, and the University Folkloric Association will perform. From 1:00 a.m., in the same area, the group Atenia will perform, but not on stage, but in the tower area.

A second stage will be located in Marqués de Celada street, where at 10:00 p.m., the group Los Muchachos will perform. Finally, in the area of San Benito, the orchestras Revelación, Tropin, and Maquinaria will meet, starting at 10:00 p.m. and lasting until the early hours of the morning.
