SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 22nd June (EUROPA PRESS) –
Astrid Pérez, the head of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, and the judge of the Constitutional Court Enrique Arnaldo Alcubilla unveiled the book ‘The Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands before the Constitutional Court: 1982-2022’ on Friday in the Europa Room. The book delves into four decades of constitutional jurisprudence in the Archipelago.
Astrid Pérez emphasised the collaboration between the Constitutional Court and the Parliament of the Canary Islands, bringing together legal experts from both institutions. She commented, “We are privileged to have a profound and meticulously analysed overview of over fifty cases involving our Community and the court that serves as the chief interpreter of the Spanish Constitution.”
She hailed the coordinated efforts of TC magistrate Enrique Arnaldo and Salvador Iglesias Machado, the general secretary of this Parliament, as a testament to the work’s credibility.
Enrique Arnaldo Alcubilla expressed gratitude to the Parliament of the Canary Islands for facilitating the publication of this work, which took shape during the 10th Legislature under the presidency of Gustavo Matos and is now a reality in the 11th Legislature under President Astrid Pérez.
The Chamber’s president praised the contribution of the Canary Islands Parliament lawyers involved in the book, including María Cristina Duce, Francisco Javier López, Jorge Luis Méndez, Marta Cabrera, and José Ignacio Navarro. He also mentioned the input of Juan Ignacio Moreno and Pedro Ibáñez Buil, lawyers from the Constitutional Court, who have shared their legal expertise.
