The disappearance of Jay Slater, a 19-year-old British adolescent, in Tenerife has caused significant concern and led to a large-scale search operation in the Rural Park of Teno. He was last heard from at 8:15 a.m. on Monday, when he phoned his friend Lucy Mae to inform her that he had become disoriented while making his way back to where he was staying. Since then, no further information has been received, and his friends have described his disappearance as “suspicious and peculiar.”
Jay had embarked on a trip to Tenerife to attend the music festival New Rave Generation (NRG), accompanied by two companions. This festival, renowned for hosting artists of international acclaim, was the main purpose of his visit to the Canary Islands. Following the festival, Jay encountered two young British men with whom he opted to spend time. The group proceeded to one of their apartments, where they spent the night socialising over beers.
The following day, Jay found himself in a predicament. Having missed the bus he was supposed to take back to his lodging, he chose to embark on the journey on foot, an expedition estimated to last approximately 11 hours. While on the trek, he got confused due to an error in the GPS app he was utilising, finding himself “in the middle of nowhere.” His final interaction was with Lucy Mae, during which he conveyed his urgent need for water and his state of exhaustion. Regrettably, the conversation was cut short as his phone battery had dwindled to just 1%.
