Search for the young British tourist missing in Masca: latest updates

The search operation for Jay D. Slater, a 19-year-old British individual who went missing in Tenerife on Monday, extends into its third day in the Masca ravine. Yesterday, the search efforts were expanded to the tourist hubs of Las Américas and Los Cristianos along the island’s west coast.

According to sources from the Civil Guard as reported by EFE, ground searches are being carried out with the assistance of a helicopter and drones in the Teno Rural Park, the initial point of the operation. The search in this area recommenced after the Civil Guard dismissed a lead that placed the young man in the tourist vicinity of Los Cristianos, where he had rented an apartment with friends.

Jay Dean Slater, a resident of Lancashire, had travelled to Tenerife for a music festival and a leisurely vacation.

The young man’s mother has relocated to the island with her eldest son to actively participate in and support the search efforts.

The SOS Missing Association has issued an updated alert on this case, labelling it as highly critical, and has provided further information on the attire he was dressed in before his disappearance.

The incident occurred at 8:00 a.m. on Monday when the young man contacted a friend stating he was disoriented and extremely thirsty. The call abruptly ended as his phone battery died.

The missing young man’s mother disclosed to British media that she had received anonymous calls alleging her son was abducted due to a debt.

Major British publications such as the BBC, The Guardian, and The Times have covered the incident along with statements from the missing young man’s mother.

Jay Dean Slater is described as a slim, 1.80-meter-tall individual with black hair and blue eyes. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing grey shorts, a grey t-shirt with a green stripe on the back, and a black bag.
