Thick Smoke Engulfs Northern-Bound Highway

Motorists journeying on the TF-5 highway in Tenerife on Thursday afternoon were taken aback by poor visibility due to smoke covering the road.

According to the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center of the Government of the Canary Islands (CECOES) 1-1-2, the smoke emerged from a fire in vegetation near the roadside. The incident occurred close to the town of Santa Úrsula in the northern direction.

CECOES reported that firefighters, personnel from the Island Council Highways, and Civil Guard officers were on site regulating traffic as one lane had to be temporarily closed.

The incident led to significant traffic delays in the area.
