Tenerife native, Patricia Martín, is now known as ‘The Princess’ of boxing and the Canary Island fashion scene. The Tenerife Moda del Cabildo programme and the Canarian Boxing Federation have joined forces to support the elite boxer, better known as Princess Martín. She will face off against Madrid’s Patricia González for the Professional Spanish Championship on Saturday, 29th, at the Pancho Camurria Pavilion in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Eight years have passed since the Pancho Camurria hosted a national championship, this time featuring two highly sought-after female contenders.
34-year-old Tenerife native, Patricia Martín, chose renowned designer Juan Carlos Armas from the Tenerife Moda programme for her photoshoot. Armas prepared high couture dresses in pleated tulle, taffeta, and embedded embroidery for Martín to showcase in the I Love The World photoshoot. Princess Martín had the collaboration of well-known Tenerife boxers posing in some of the images.
The Commissioner of Education, Youth, and Employment of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Efrain Medina, stated that «this is not the first time that fashion and boxing have come together in Tenerife». «On this occasion, through Tenerife Moda, we aim to highlight women in a predominantly male sport where they are increasingly breaking glass ceilings», detailed Medina. He added that Juan Carlos Armas’ “magic” to “empower Patricia Martín through fashion has been fundamental”. Juan Carlos Armas, on the other hand, affirmed that “fashion and boxing editorials are becoming more common, creating a perfect synergy.”

Patricia Martín appreciates the initiative taken by Tenerife Moda. “I loved the photoshoot because I am very passionate about fashion, and it served as a great escape from all the hard and intense training. I really enjoyed the session and feel recharged for the upcoming championship,” she emphasized.
In amateur boxing, Martín has been repeatedly crowned the Spanish champion. On Saturday, 29th, The Princess will fight at home for the vacant super welterweight title against Patricia González from Madrid. She is seeking her first title as a professional boxer.
Tenerife Moda is an institutional platform created by the Cabildo de Tenerife for the various textile brands on the island with the goal of uniting the fashion value chain of the island: from design, tailoring, manufacturing, and distribution to the sale of textiles, accessories, and professions related to the fashion industry.
