The presiding judge of Court of Investigation No. 2 in Icod de los Vinos has ordered the defendant, a 55-year-old man and the main suspect in the murder of another man in Buenavista del Norte, whose partially burned body was found in the early hours of 8th July 2022, to be remanded in custody without bail.
The tragic incident took place in the neighbourhood of Las Canteras, where both the victim and the alleged perpetrator lived. A citizen’s alert detected a fire on the side of the road connecting Las Canteras to a water reservoir located on the only mountain in the area. Despite the damage caused by the fire, the Civil Guard officers were able to identify the body that same morning through fingerprint matching. The victim, a 55-year-old man, showed clear signs of intentional homicide according to the forensic inspection carried out at the scene.
