An expedition led by Civil Guard officers from the Special Mountain Intervention Rescue Group (GREIM) and a helicopter has been on a quest since Monday night to locate a 19-year-old British gentleman who has gone missing in the Teno Rural Park.
The operation’s current focus has been on the vicinity of the Masca hamlet, situated in the Buenavista del Norte municipality, as per information from Civil Guard sources reported by Europa Press. It was friends of the young man, who were on an excursion on the island, who raised the alarm about his disappearance.
Reports from some British newspapers suggest that the young man visited the island during his holiday to attend a music festival with two companions and eventually ended up at the residence of individuals he had recently met, significantly far from his accommodation.
During his last communication with friends, his phone’s battery almost depleted, he realised he had missed the bus, was disoriented while walking, and was experiencing dehydration.
