SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 14th June (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo of Tenerife, under the umbrella of the Equality and Diversity department, has welcomed six new entities into the Tenerife Violeta Island Network for Gender Equality, as part of the Tenerife Violeta Strategic Framework (METV).
This addition was formalised following the approval of the Government Council last Wednesday. The ECCA Social Foundation, the LGTBI Diversas Canarias Association, the Violetas del Teide Women for Equality Association, the Acaman Hospitaller Sisters, the Association of deaf people of Tenerife (Asorte), and the Option 3 Association are incorporated into the network.
The signing of the agreement to formalise this move was attended by the President of the Cabildo, Rosa Dávila, and the Director of Equality and Diversity, Patricia León, along with representatives from the respective entities.
As per the agreement, the insular corporation commits to energising the Insular Network for Gender Equality Tenerife Violeta through annual scheduled activities with its member entities, fostering collaborative efforts, organising at least two annual central meetings with all entities, providing support to individuals with disabilities or functional diversity within the network to ensure their full participation, and ensuring adherence to the commitments made by the network’s entities. A statement from the Cabildo details these obligations.
By joining the network, these organisations pledge to advocate for actions that advance equal treatment and opportunities, and to cooperate in eradicating inequalities, discrimination, and gender-based violence.
The goal is to address various strategic priorities on the island to enhance the well-being and quality of life of women, and to support their personal growth across various spheres such as employment, education, culture, youth, and sports.
