The Cabildo is working on updating the budget for the improvement project of the TF-61 road, in the section between the South Motorway and El Puertito de Güímar. The planned action is described as “comprehensive” by the municipal government as it will include shoulders, sidewalks, gardens, and a cycle lane.
In addition to this action, in parallel “a solution has been designed to improve safety at the El Puertito crossing and under the motorway bridge,” says Mayor Gustavo Pérez. In this context, the Güímar City Council requested the necessary tools from the Cabildo for the improvement of the Puzol picnic area, located next to the island road and currently used as a recreational space.
This matter was addressed by the government group in a meeting with the island Executive, a meeting attended by President Rosa Dávila; the Mobility councillor, Eulalia García, and the Employment councillor, Efraín Medina.
The insular Corporation reported that it is conducting a study on the adaptation of bus stops, a point where the City Council requested urgent intervention at the one on the TF-1 near Montaña Grande and the one on TF-525, next to the CAMP Reina Sofía.
The creation of a parking area in the urban centre of Güímar and close to the Southern main road (TF-28), as well as the construction of a multipurpose building (clinic and civic and social rooms, among others) in El Puertito de Güímar – a project co-participated by the City Council, Cabildo, and Canary Islands Government – are other proposals discussed by the insular and municipal governments.
“These projects are crucial for the municipality’s development. We have scheduled a new meeting to delve into the next investments,” says the Güímar tripartite.
Employment occupied a significant part of the meeting time to establish training tailored to the market that facilitates the action lines with the Güímar Employment Agency and the demand from companies in the Valle de Güímar Industrial Estate.
