SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 12th June. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Popular Group’s representative Rosa Viera has been selected on Wednesday by the Plenary Session of the Parliament of the Canary Islands as the new regional senator replacing Australia Navarro, who recently joined the Consultative Council of the Canary Islands.
Viera, who stood in the regional elections as the second candidate of the PP for the island of Gran Canaria, now joins Pedro San Ginés (CC) and José Antonio Valbuena (PSOE) in this term, the other two senators appointed by the regional Chamber.
In her farewell speech, she expressed that being a member of Parliament was an “honour”, despite it being a “very intense and short” experience. She extended her gratitude to the Canarian president and vice-president, Fernando Clavijo and Manuel Domínguez, for their unwavering support. She emphasised that her group is like a “family” and even though she is heading to Madrid, her “heart and soul” will remain in the islands.
