Members of the Judicial Police Brigade of the Southern Tenerife Police Station of the National Police arrested a woman, 63 years old and of Brazilian nationality, as the alleged perpetrator of the murder of a man, of Algerian origin, that occurred during the early hours of last Monday in the municipality of Arona.
Both the accused of the violent death and the victim were homeless individuals residing in shanties in the vicinity of Los Cristianos.
For some time, they had been engaged in various fights and verbal altercations that tragically culminated in the early hours of this week, as explained by the sources consulted.
Both homeless individuals had a history of different crimes and decided to establish their residence within one of the plots of the El Mojón partial plan, where there are still no buildings.
The man’s homicide took place on a plot located near the Los Alisios apartments and the Official School of Languages, on the southeast end of the aforementioned urban project.
The Algerian man had recently been released from prison. The woman of Latin American origin allegedly took advantage of the fact that, at the time of the incident, the 56-year-old man was asleep, intoxicated, or drugged to attack him, leaving him no real chance of defence.
According to the information that has emerged from the investigation, the alleged perpetrator used a knife to slit the man’s throat.
The Investigating Court number 1 ordered the accused’s imprisonment

However, everything points to the Brazilian citizen altering the scene of the homicide, with the intention of making it appear that the death was a suicide. In other words, she cut the man’s wrists and placed the weapon in one of his hands.
Security guard
The man’s body was discovered shortly after, at 5:00 am, by maintenance staff in the area and by a security guard, who informed the National Police of the incident.
Various Public Security patrols and agents from the National Police Judiciary Brigade arrived at the scene. These professionals confirmed that it was a violent death, triggering the usual judicial protocol in such cases.
More Police Judiciary officers, members of the Scientific Police Brigade, and the forensic doctor headed to the mentioned El Mojón plot.
From there, investigators began to conduct exhaustive inquiries to determine the circumstances and manner in which the North African man’s death occurred.
One certainty they managed to obtain was that the Brazilian woman was the last person to see him alive, and they also learned that both individuals had frequent fights and arguments.
Additionally, the accused woman left various traces of her involvement in the homicide, with bloodstains on her clothes, for example. Furthermore, the testimony she provided to the Judicial Police did not align with the accounts provided by several witnesses interviewed by these officials.
Moreover, as is customary in such cases, the national police officers conducted further investigations to substantiate their work.
Furthermore, the members of the Scientific Police retrieved the knife used to slit the victim’s throat.
