During the month of May, Canary Islands airports recorded a total of 3,934,369 passengers, an 8.6% increase compared to the same month in 2023, according to data provided by AENA.
Out of the total number of passengers recorded last month, 3,918,675 were from commercial flights, with 1,823,931 on domestic flights, a 9.9% increase compared to May of the previous year, and 2,094,744 on international flights, an 8% increase.
Additionally, there were 36,808 aircraft movements, an 8.9% increase from the same month in 2023, and 2,737 tonnes of cargo transported, a 12.1% increase.
By airports, Gran Canaria airport registered the highest number of passengers with 1,094,567, representing a 9.6% increase from the same month of the previous year.
Following is Tenerife South airport, with 976,706 passengers, a 12.4% increase compared to May 2023; César Manrique-Lanzarote, with 663,867 (+2.9%); Tenerife North-Ciudad de La Laguna, with 574,798 (+10.6%);
Fuerteventura, with 471,459 (+4.6%); La Palma, with 117,514 (+9.7%); El Hierro, with 25,418 (+5.1%) and La Gomera, with 10,040 (+7.4%).
So far this year, Canary Islands airports have welcomed 21,795,270 passengers, a 9.9% increase compared to the same period last year.

Out of the 21,635,981 commercial passengers, 8,315,913 travelled on domestic flights, an 8.8% increase, and 13,320,068 on international flights, an 11.3% increase compared to the same accumulated period in 2023.
