SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 13th June. (EUROPA PRESS) –
A 40-year-old mountaineer sustained moderate injuries after being struck by a rock that fell in the vicinity of La Atalaya, in Tegueste (Tenerife), according to the report by the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center of 112 of the Canary Islands.
The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon at the mentioned location, where the helicopter of the Emergency and Rescue Group of the Government of the Canary Islands (GES) was dispatched. The rescue team provided initial assistance to the injured individual and airlifted him to Tenerife North airport.
Upon landing, the personnel of the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) confirmed that the person had suffered moderate hip injuries without complications. Subsequently, he was transferred by a basic life support ambulance from the SUC to Parque Hospital.
In addition to the rescue teams, Civil Protection staff, as well as officers from the Local Police and the Civil Guard, also responded to the incident and cooperated with the ongoing rescue operation.
