SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 9th June (EUROPA PRESS) –
The candidate for the European elections from the Popular Party, Gabriel Mato, is calling on the public to participate in today’s election, stating: “If we desire change, if we seek a better future, if we want the Canary Islands to maintain their impact in Europe as they have in recent times, and to strengthen their position in the European Union, then we must exercise our right to vote.”
Speaking to the press after casting his vote, Gabriel Mato highlighted the importance of citizens exercising their right and expressing clearly what they aspire for, if they wish to “continue advancing and altering the aspects that are unsatisfactory” in Spain and Europe.
The candidate emphasised that this opportunity “is provided by the ballot boxes”; thus, he is optimistic that today will be “a day of celebration throughout the Canary Islands, a day where citizens turn out in numbers to vote and communicate clearly their desires and expectations from the politicians they choose.”
Furthermore, the president of the Popular Party in the Canary Islands, Manuel Domínguez, also urged citizens to take part in the elections and freely cast their votes. He underscored that today is “a day where we will determine our future” and highlighted the significance of the Canary Islands’ involvement in decision-making at the European level.
“Specifically, the Canary Islands have a significant role to play in the circumstances we are facing in Europe, in the policies that impact us daily, hence, I encourage everyone to participate and not let this opportunity slip by,” he reiterated.
