SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 7 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Canary Islands Government’s president, Fernando Clavijo, on Friday encouraged members of the ‘Canarias Palante’ movement to submit all their proposals for revamping the islands’ development model either to the Government itself or to the councils.
“There is no one here who is dispensable,” he stated to the press, emphasizing that there is an avenue open since the recent Conference of Presidents where working groups were established and their initial conclusions are set to be unveiled in October.
“I believe the most effective course of action would be for them to forward us documents for scrutiny by our working groups, particularly focusing on the alternatives and proposals,” he stressed.
Furthermore, he reiterated that their suggestions will be scrutinized “scrupulously and with great care” and will be considered alongside those from professors, business representatives, or unions also partaking in the discussion.
Clavijo lauded 20A as “a significant civic reflection movement” that has helped raise awareness about certain issues, although he explicitly pointed out that “no single person” can claim to fully represent the demonstrators.
