VALVERDE (EL HIERRO), 6th June (EUROPA PRESS) –
Tragically, one of the migrants saved from the waters near El Hierro last night has passed away this Thursday at the island’s hospital, as confirmed by sources from the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands to Europa Press.
In a night filled with rescue operations, Maritime Rescue teams successfully saved a total of 417 individuals on three vessels navigating the waters near El Hierro. Among them was a baby who, along with his mother, was airlifted to the island’s hospital.
The occupants of two of the three boats were directed to the port of La Restinga, while another 160 were safely disembarked at the Arguineguín dock in Gran Canaria, courtesy of the Guardamar Talía.
Furthermore, in waters south of Tenerife, two additional rescue operations were carried out, bringing nearly 100 more migrants to safety. Consequently, a staggering total of 516 migrants have arrived in the archipelago since Wednesday night.
