The Education Department of the Santa Cruz City Council, under the supervision of Charín González, is delighted to announce the opening of registration for 10 summer schools located across the 5 districts of the city. These schools will offer a total of 820 spots for children aged between 3 and 12 years old during the month of July. The councilor emphasizes that priority will be given to children whose parents are employed, as the main aim is to help families balance work and personal life during the school holidays.
Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez applauds this initiative for providing children with the opportunity to engage in educational and recreational activities while promoting a healthy work-life balance for families. He highlights that the summer schools will offer additional services such as early drop-off from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and after-school care from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
“This year, we are thrilled to offer free summer camps in all districts, across the ten schools in July. The number of spots available has tripled compared to last year,” mentions González. She also outlines the registration process, which requires individuals to visit the district offices between June 10 and 19. Appointments for registration can be scheduled through the official website www.santacruzdetenerife.es or by calling 010 from Monday to Friday during office hours.
Applicants can obtain the registration form from the Santa Cruz City Council’s online platform. In addition to the form, interested parties must provide documents such as a copy of the family book page where the child is registered, the child’s health card or private medical insurance, medical reports in case of illnesses or allergies, a passport-sized photo of the child, and custody resolution in cases of separation or divorce.
The selection of participants will be done through an alphabetical draw on June 24. The list of accepted children and a waiting list will be published on the council’s website. To be eligible for a spot in the summer schools, children must be residents of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, with preference given to children of working parents.
The summer camps will offer a range of activities and excursions from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. Additional services like early drop-off and after-school care will be available. Breakfast will also be provided at the camps,” González affirms.
Summer camps will be hosted at various schools across different districts, catering to specific numbers of children. Each school will reserve four spots for children with disabilities to ensure inclusivity.
