SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 7th June (EUROPA PRESS) –
Aena has granted the Technical Assistance for Project Drafting (ATRP) for the refurbishment of the terminal area at Tenerife North Airport-Ciudad de La Laguna to the Temporary Union of Companies composed of CEMOSA, Fairbanks Arquitectos SLP and INTECSA-INARSA SA for a sum of 3,016,871.70 Euros.
The contract is set to run for 36 months, with the initial 18 months focusing on drafting the project for the terminal area adaptation.
The project drafting encompasses the expansion of check-in counters, security lines, the establishment of new boarding areas, and baggage claim, according to a statement from Aena.
It also includes improvements to parking areas and urbanization, as well as the installation of necessary equipment and furniture.
These project activities are expected to be incorporated into the DORA III proposal (2027-2031).
Therefore, the enhancements will elevate the quality and efficiency of the facilities while respecting the building’s unique architectural style.
The architecture firm comprising the winning consortium has been involved in projects at terminals in airports such as Gran Canaria, Tenerife South, Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández, and Málaga-Costa del Sol, as well as control towers at Málaga-Costa del Sol and Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat airports.
Internationally, they have collaborated on expansion ventures at Colombian airports like El Dorado in Bogotá and Rafael Núñez in Cartagena, as well as at Jorge Chávez Airport in Lima, Peru.
This project, alongside the proposed renovation of Tenerife South Airport involving a complete overhaul of the terminal area, reorganization including the construction of new parking facilities and entrances, and review of urban development and landscaping, will be incorporated in the upcoming Aena investment cycle’s proposal.
