Yesterday, the Government Board approved the extension of commercial operations at the historical La Abejera market in the García Escámez neighbourhood of the capital city. This extension has been granted to the Alvenri Mercados company after the previous contract expired on May 12th. The concession will remain valid until the property is tendered again.
Carlos Tarife, the Councilor for Public Services, stated that “collaboration with the Development Society is ongoing to establish the terms for the upcoming lease of La Abejera.” He mentioned that “the current conditions will be maintained to support the local businesses in the neighbourhood.”
Additionally, the councilor highlighted plans for future improvements, stating that “there are intentions to introduce more terraces to revitalise the area, which will be included in the next lease agreement.”
Due to a lack of resources to manage the market, the council approved a ten-year lease to the Alvenri Mercados entity for an annual fee of 7,800 euros in total.
