Maritime Rescue successfully carried out the rescue operation on Tuesday, 4th of June, bringing to Los Cristianos dock (Tenerife) 40 individuals of Sub-Saharan descent, including four women and four children, who were travelling in a canoe located 12 nautical miles south of La Gomera.
Sources from the Maritime Rescue have informed EFE that for this operation, the Helimer 201 helicopter and the Nizar rescue boat were mobilised, with the latter carrying out the rescue of the migrants on board the vessel.
Earlier, a boat carrying 26 individuals, 25 men and one woman, managed to reach Playa Santiago in La Gomera using its own means.
