Two individuals have been detained by Civil Guard officers from the Analysis and Investigation Unit of the Fiscal and Border Section (UDAIFF) at Tenerife South Airport, on suspicion of committing over 10 different offences. These include acts such as robbery involving violence or intimidation, burglary with force, motor vehicle theft, document falsification, inflicting injuries, and license plate theft affecting road safety, all of which occurred in the southern region of the island.
The investigation was initiated following a burglary with forced entry into a vacation apartment, where the accused gained access by climbing a wall and tampering with the lock to enter the premises.
It was discovered that the individuals used a stolen vehicle, which had its license plate changed during the commission of the crimes, with a plate belonging to another vehicle installed instead.
Subsequently, they committed a violent robbery by snatching a bag from a person outside Tenerife South Airport. They then fled in a vehicle, causing the victim injury as the vehicle’s wheel ran over one of their legs.
Following a thorough analysis of the evidence gathered during the investigation, the Civil Guard officers successfully identified the alleged culprits, leading to their dissemination among various police forces to facilitate their immediate apprehension.
The Civil Guard emphasized the “close collaboration” with the San Miguel de Abona Local Police, exchanging information to aid in the identification and arrest of the suspects.
Additionally, one of the individuals lacked a valid driving license, which had been declared invalid since 2020. As a result, they are also under investigation for a road safety offence.
As a result of the investigation, both the stolen vehicle and the tampered license plates have been recovered.
The suspects, alongside the investigative actions taken by the Civil Guard officers from the UDAIFF, have been handed over to Investigative Court Number 3 in Arona.
