The signing of the decree thatofficialises the hydraulic emergency on the island initiates the process to implement the 75 measures outlined in the technical document from the island’s water council. Among them are ten urgent hydraulic works, desalination plants, and water treatment plants. In the short term, it will be possible to increase the volume of irrigation water by 27,000 cubic metres per day. This declaration will last for six months and can be extended for another six.
In the end, there were 16 allegations submitted, addressed, and in some cases included in the final document. They referred to the enforcement of deadlines, water losses, reactivation of galleries and wells, greater efficiency in irrigation, and, on the part of the municipalities, having the decree as a support for the emergency works they must carry out.
