SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 28th May. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Tenerife’s Cabildo has initiated two subsidy programmes through the Social Action department, aimed at fostering initiatives for children and teenagers facing social exclusion or are at risk of falling into it.
The area’s councillor, Águeda Fumero, stated that these funding opportunities have a combined budget of €200,000, designated to be granted to third sector organisations for the implementation of enrichment projects.
Fumero emphasized that “this initiative is in line with the principles outlined in the Second Plan for Childhood and Adolescence, recently endorsed by the Council, leading to the renewal of the ‘Child Friendly City’ certification awarded by UNICEF.” This plan establishes the vital guidelines for action and a comprehensive island strategy concerning children, teenagers, and families, under the scope of a cross-cutting approach.”
The Second Plan for Children and Adolescents highlights as a fundamental measure “providing technical and financial aid to third sector entities engaging in activities geared towards children and teenagers, with a focus on children’s rights.”
The two subsidy programmes aim to facilitate the development of recreational initiatives that encourage social integration (€80,000), as well as to support care, assistance, and intervention activities (€120,000).
