The Local Government of La Guancha has announced the implementation of a restriction on water usage specifically for residents under 8 years old within the municipality. This new regulation took effect on Wednesday, 29th of May.
For the rest of the residents, there is now the “freedom to consume or cook with public water.”
According to the announcement by the Local Government, this measure is in compliance with the guidelines set by the General Directorate of Public Health and follows the latest examination of the public water supply.
Mayor Antonio Hernández revealed on Radio La Guancha that starting from the 13th of May, all water entering the reservoirs has been reprocessed. “We have successfully restored the water to optimal levels within two weeks,” she confirmed.
He further explained, “multiple water samples from the municipal reservoirs have been examined, and we have received the health inspection report which permits us to lift the restrictions on water consumption, retaining the limitation only for children under 8 years old in accordance with the current regulations.”
The Local Government anticipates that by next week, the fluoride levels will be confirmed to be at 1.5 or less, allowing for the removal of restrictions for the entire population.
