José Mora, the secretary of the CC in Venezuela, has called out the State Government for failing to support Canarian beneficiaries of aid for those in need in Venezuela. This comes after the Government “continues to withhold funding from the España Salud Foundation,” which offers essential healthcare services to 2,050 Canarian residents in Venezuela.
The nationalists have condemned the government for neglecting individuals in a precarious situation who rely on the Foundation for vital assistance. While acknowledging the recent agreement that was announced a few weeks back, they argue that “merely approving and publishing agreements in the BOE is insufficient; it is imperative that resources are also allocated to secure fundamental services like healthcare.”
Medical aid for Spaniards in Venezuela facing vulnerability is facilitated through the Spain Health Foundation, benefiting a total of 4,101 people, with 2,050 hailing from the Canary Islands. The Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security, and Migration is tasked with ensuring access to subsidized healthcare for migrants in Venezuela lacking the necessary funds.
The Canarian nationalists emphasise that “waiting is unacceptable in such a critical situation. Presently, 2,050 Canarian individuals are awaiting funds from Pedro Sánchez’s Government to enable their access to essential healthcare.”.
Moreover, they raise concerns that the State “has not updated applications for necessity aid in this country since April 2022,” affecting over 1,400 applicants, the majority being residents of the Canary Islands in Venezuela.
The Canary Coalition highlights that “the PSOE Government has neglected migrants in this nation” and urges “swift action to remedy a situation worsening the vulnerability of Canary Island residents in Venezuela due to limited resources.”
