Following the cancellation of its March event due to adverse weather conditions, the 11th instalment of the Canary Market Place is set to take place on June 1 and 2 in Nueva Atalaya. It will feature 45 Canary businesses and a fresh lineup of activities for both kids and adults. This event brings together craftsmanship, design, and local talent, making it a standout gastronomic, cultural, and leisure experience in the municipality, running from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday and 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday. Entrance is free.

In its new venue, visitors can enjoy the facilities of the equestrian club, cafeteria, garden areas, chill-out terraces, and two free parking zones. This unique natural setting is just a 5-minute drive from the Tenerife North airport and 7 minutes from the Historic Center of La Laguna, nestled at the foot of the El Púlpito mountain.

Nearly 45 businesses in the areas of design, fashion, crafts, and art will showcase their creations in both outdoor stalls and the indoor area of the venue. Their works bear a distinct Canarian touch, with most coming from La Laguna or other Tenerife regions, but also featuring pieces from other islands such as La Palma Artesanía.

Aside from showcasing art ‘made in the Canary Islands’, this free-entry event sets itself apart by being a family-friendly leisure destination. The weekend will host a diverse programme of activities for all ages, featuring musical performances and a gastronomic service by López Echeto, alongside cocktail bars and more.

Simultaneously, the Market will coincide with the National Equestrian Jumping Competition, held at the same Nueva Atalaya Equestrian Club from Friday, May 31 to June 2, with 80 participants and free admission.

The Canary Market Place is backed by La Laguna Zona Comercial, La Atalaya Events, Toke Graphic, and Avanti Clinics.

For additional details and registration regarding activities with limited capacity, visit their official website canarymarketplace.com or check their social media handles @canarymarketplace.

Almost 45 Labels Showcasing Archipelago’s Talent

The Canary Market Place has established itself as a prominent supporter of local commerce in La Laguna, owing to its past successes and broad representation of Canarian businesses.

Noteworthy mentions include sustainable brands like “Algodón en Verde” and “Leemonts.Tfe”, artisan with extensive experience “Karin y punto”, leading children’s products company “Sentir la Tribu”, and brands catering to younger audiences like “Misslazos” and “Smil3s”.

La Laguna-based brands such as “Sensaciones Love Shop”, and labels from Tenerife Moda like “Azusal”, “Handcrafted”, or “Farobag” take the spotlight. Also, the presence of Canary Islands cartoonist Zaguán de Carlines is a highlight, appearing on Saturday from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m.

Accessories brands like “QuéChachi”, “María Cantalapiedra”, or “Arual”, along with “La Palma Artesanía” from a different island, further celebrate the diverse talent.

A Variety of Family-Friendly Activities

The weekend programme boasts over 10 activities alongside the stalls, presenting a mix of leisure, music, cuisine, sports, and culture.

Utilizing the equestrian club’s facilities and expert team, the Market offers environmental awareness and animal care services, as well as horse-related experiences for children. Additional children’s activities include singing games, workshops, and inflatable fun.

Literature finds its place at the Market with a section dedicated to local authors displaying their works and engaging with the public.

Live music will accompany the days from start to finish. Renowned artist Shane, with over 20 years in the music industry, will showcase covers of popular hits by artists like Ed Sheeran, Bob Marley, and The Eagles, hailing from Ireland. Moreover, DJs David Manso and Nico López will wrap up the Saturday and Sunday sessions.

The 11th edition of the Canary Market Place presents a complete weekend plan to revel in the company, amplifying the voice of the Islands’ talent and supporting local commerce. These two key elements have cemented this Market as a must-visit attraction in the municipality of La Laguna.
