Today, on Sunday, 26th May, the Las Mercedes Pilgrimage took place in La Laguna. This event, although not as widely recognised as other celebrations in Tenerife, attracted hundreds of attendees for a day filled with tradition and music.
The Pilgrimage, scheduled to commence at 1:00 p.m. from the Las Mercedes public school, experienced a thirty-minute delay due to various inconveniences and the need for medical aid along the route through the town’s streets before reaching the central square.
This gathering acted as a focal point for both residents and tourists, serving as a catalyst for maintaining local customs. Attendees generously shared wine and food from the oxcarts, ensuring a sense of community and tradition.
The Exquisite Veranda at Las Mercedes
Inés’s terrace became an essential stop during every Las Mercedes Pilgrimage, adorned this year to resemble a comprehensive emporium. Visitors paused to capture a photo before concluding their journey to the square, creating a lasting memento akin to a photoshoot.

Village Celebration
By 5:00 p.m., the festivities continued in the square with a lively performance by the Nueva Línea and Atenia orchestras, enchanting the audience with their musical selection and encouraging everyone to dance along.
