SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 24th May. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Government of Tenerife will commission a study to evaluate the prevalence of sexist online abuse in our community, aiming to create a diagnostic tool to develop a strategy that aligns with the societal landscape of the island.
This innovative measure seeks to confront and eliminate this form of abuse, which, as per various studies, has been on the rise across the country, impacting individuals of all ages, particularly minors, teenagers, and young women.
Alongside the initiation of this study, the Government’s plan involves crafting strategies and campaigns geared towards educating and informing victims of such abuse about the available support resources, as well as providing specialised training to professionals involved in victim support.
Consequently, the Government of Tenerife is proposing a preventive strategy, primarily targeting the adolescent demographic, to address cyber abuse and equip youth with the knowledge of available resources should they become victims.
Furthermore, the strategy includes establishing a coordinated effort with the State Security Forces and Bodies, who are experts in handling such crimes, to detect and swiftly address potential instances of abuse.
