The Santa Cruz City Council’s Plenary Session has given the green light today to amend the 2024 taxi calendar to ensure that 100% of the taxi fleet will be available on days when concerts are scheduled in the capital during the upcoming summer months. This adjustment anticipates a significant increase in demand due to nearly a dozen musical events planned in the city.

During the concert days, all Santa Cruz taxi drivers will be operational, “This proposal to adjust the current 2024 calendar aims to meet the demands of many citizens who have been requesting more available taxis in the capital during these large-scale events,” explained Evelyn Alonso, the Councilor for Mobility.

According to the resolution passed in the Plenary this morning, on the concert days in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, all taxi drivers can operate freely in the municipality from 2:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m. the following day. Specifically, “this agreement will be applicable on June 8, 9 (Saturday and Sunday), during the Tenerife Music Festival at Puerto Chicharrero esplanade, featuring performances by artists like Marc Anthony, and on Sunday, June 23 for the Night of San Juan,” added Alonso.

The same operating hours will be in place on Saturday, June 29, for the Ed Sheeran concert at Heliodoro Rodríguez López stadium; on Saturday, July 6, for the Mike Towers concert at the Fairgrounds; July 19 and 20 (Friday and Saturday) for the Cook Music Fest celebrations at Puerto Chicharrero, with artists like Maluma and Aitana; on Friday, July 26, for the TLP Music event at the Fairgrounds, featuring Manuel Turizo and Tito El Bambino, amongst others, and on Saturday, August 3, for the Saiko concert at the Fairgrounds.
