SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 23rd May. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Department of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands will commence the acceptance of applications this Friday for a selective process aimed at addressing the depletion of specific employment lists, a major issue hindering the replacement of non-teaching staff in schools across the islands.
The Ministry will be establishing reserve lists in fourteen categories: head chef, culinary assistant, support services assistant, junior assistant, administrative support, educational assistant, nursing aide, domestic service worker, maintenance personnel, early childhood educator, social educator, social worker, social operator, and nurse.
The creation or extension of these lists will facilitate temporary recruitment to fill vacant positions that are crucial for the smooth operation of educational institutions in the archipelago, especially to cover temporary absences.
The application period, which is expected to garner a substantial response, will be open until the 21st of June 2024, counting twenty business days from the day following the publication of the call in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC), done this Thursday.
Furthermore, separate lists will be curated based on professional category and municipality/s of each island. Interested individuals must submit their applications (one for each desired category) alongside the necessary documentation through the electronic platform, specifying the municipality or municipalities on the island/s where they wish to be listed, in accordance with Annex I of the resolution.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
The general prerequisites for participation include being a Spanish national or a citizen of any other EU state, being at least sixteen years old, and possessing the requisite academic or professional qualifications as detailed in Annex II, which, in certain categories, includes a school leaving certificate or a high school diploma.
Regarding the selection process, it will be based on a merit-based competition as outlined in Annex III. The assessment criteria include work experience (up to twelve points) within and outside the administration, academic achievements (up to one point), and further training and development (up to one point).
It is important to note that only merits submitted within the stipulated period will be considered, and they must be possessed at the close of the application submission window. Following this period, the provisional list of accepted and excluded candidates will be published on the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity, and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands website. Excluded applicants will be informed of the reasons for exclusion, allowing them an opportunity to rectify any issues.
