SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 22nd May. (EUROPA PRESS) –
A man aged 50 has been admitted to hospital in critical condition following a rescue operation at sea near Callao del Guincho de Arriba, situated on the coast of San Miguel municipality in Tenerife, according to reports from the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (Cecoes) 1- 1-2.
The incident took place around 12:50 p.m., when the 1-1-2 emergency center received a distress call indicating that an individual with a sports board was in distress at sea off the Las Chafiras coast. Subsequently, Cecoes promptly activated the necessary emergency services.
Upon arrival, the Firefighters Consortium team reached the victim, successfully retrieving him from the water. After confirming that he was in cardiac arrest, they commenced resuscitation efforts on the spot.
Medical personnel from SUC continued advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation procedures, eventually managing to restore his pulse. Following stabilization, he was urgently transported in critical condition by medical ambulance to the Canary Islands University Hospital. Local Police Officers collaborated with other emergency services during the operation.
