The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has announced specific traffic changes for Thursday, 23rd May, due to the first children’s Romero Walk in the city. The route will run from Plaza Weyler to Plaza de La Candelaria.
In preparation for the event, the city council will be making adjustments on Méndez Núñez Street. This will involve reserving or removing online parking spaces on the right side in the direction of traffic between Weyler Square and the pedestrian crossing, Weyler Square and Robayna Street, as well as the section between Pi y Margall Street. These changes are expected to be in effect from 08:30 to 11:00 tomorrow.
Mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, stated that “these traffic changes are aimed at ensuring smooth transportation for all participants of the Romero Walk. We are looking forward to a memorable day for everyone involved.”
Furthermore, Mobility and Universal Accessibility Councillor, Evelyn Alonso, highlighted the implementation of necessary safety measures to minimize disruption to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic. The modifications will be clearly signposted, marked, and secured, ensuring that the road returns to normal conditions after the event concludes.
Weyler Square will act as a meeting point for over 650 children from various schools. The walk will commence at 10:00 a.m. from Castillo Street and culminate in Plaza de La Candelaria. Here, the children will enjoy an entertainment show and showcase performances they have prepared for Canary Islands Day.
