Lope Afonso (PP), the Vice President and Tourism Advisor of the Cabildo of Tenerife, has unveiled a plan today aimed at “revitalising outdated tourist spaces,” in collaboration with the municipal councils of Adeje, Arona, Puerto de la Cruz, Santiago del Teide, and San Miguel de Abona.
During a press conference to outline the decisions taken at the Government Council, where he was joined by President Rosa Dávila, he disclosed that the total investment will amount to 18 million euros by 2027, with the Cabildo contributing 70% (12.5 million euros).
Afonso highlighted that this initiative will facilitate the island’s transition towards a tourism model focused on “quality and sustainability,” aligning with other strategies of the institution such as the Tenerife and the Sea Plan and the tourism product enhancement plan.
Consequently, the emphasis will be placed on reviving pedestrian areas and green spaces, as well as establishing park-and-ride facilities to advance Tenerife as a “premium destination.” “By doing this, we are achieving a pivotal goal of this term,” he remarked.
