SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 22nd May. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The vice president and tourism advisor of Tenerife Council, Lope Afonso, unveiled on Wednesday the launch of a scheme aimed at enhancing outdated tourist spots, in collaboration with the local councils of Adeje, Arona, Puerto de la Cruz, Santiago del Teide and San Miguel de Abona.
During a press briefing to disclose the agreements of the Government Council, alongside President Rosa Dávila, he stated that the total investment will amount to 18 million Euros by 2027, with the Council contributing 70% –12.5 million Euros–.
Afonso highlighted that this initiative will assist the island in transitioning its tourism model towards “quality and sustainability” and is in harmony with other corporate schemes such as the Tenerife and the Sea Plan and the tourism product enhancement plan.
Consequently, the focus will be on areas like reviving pedestrian zones and green spaces or establishing park and ride facilities to progress the entire island towards becoming a “quality destination.” “This accomplishment aligns with a vital goal of this term,” he added.
