The Ministry of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands has put out the expansion of the El Médano Secondary School (IES) in Granadilla de Abona, Tenerife, for tender.
The project, with a base budget of €1,835,558.60 and a deadline of fourteen months from the award, will involve the construction of a new building and the expansion of the current centre with four classrooms, in addition to toilets and a walkway connecting to the main building.
The new infrastructure will help to relieve the already existing building, which has recently faced an increase in demand due to the population growth in the area.
Thus, specific spaces like the library, music room, or laboratories can berecovered, spaces that were lost when they were converted into classrooms for regular classes.
The expansion of IES El Médano is also part of the action plan announced by the regional head of the area, Poli Suárez, for the southern region of Tenerife, and it will be crucial for educational improvement in the area, ultimately aiming for the comprehensive development of all students.
The deadline for submitting bids, to be processed through the General Directorate of Infrastructures and Equipment coordinated by Iván González, will remain open until 28th May on the Public Sector Contracting Platform.
