Organized by the Canary Islands Government in collaboration with the Gran Canaria Council, Spanish Cultural Action, and the Museum of Fine Arts of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the exhibition is the culmination of the meticulous work of art history professor Margarita Rodríguez González. Over eighty pieces ranging from the artist’s early works to the final stage of Juan de Miranda’s career, where he became a favourite among the aristocracy and the church, are part of this showcase.
The exhibition journey is divided into five thematic chapters: “Civil portraiture,” “Religious portraiture,” “Immaculate Conceptions,” “Childhood of Jesus,” and “Public Life of Jesus.” Each section is preceded by a preface providing an introductory insight into Miranda’s life and artistic evolution, complemented by a special section dedicated to heritage conservation and restoration.
